For 2007, Mazda has added two new features to the third generation of its two-seater convertible, which it presented last year. First, antilock brakes are standard on all versions. Second, all versions of the MX-5 can be ordered with an optional power retractable hardtop that takes up no more trunk space than the soft top.

The MX-5 is offered in three trim levels, GX, GS and GT. Interior and trunk As with almost all convertibles, getting in and out of the MX-5 is not all that easy, particularly for tall people. The front seats are comfortable but barely, especially for a heavy person, because of the thin seat cushions. There is no adjustable lumbar support, and the seats are a bit narrow for stocky people. There is not much foot and legroom on the passenger side. The cup holders mounted in each door intrude on legroom for both occupants. A telescoping steering wheel contributes to the very good driving position
